What is the proper process to upgrade from one version to another version from within the same major version of Automate?
I was upgrading to 11.0.1.17 from the previous version of code and it gave me the options to change, repair, or uninstall the existing version of Automate. Will a repair actually do an upgrade of the software or would it be incomplete? I know that in the past, we have been asked to uninstall the old version and then install the new version. I would like to get away from that if at all possible, especially as our remote Runtime licenses systems expand. It takes more and more time to complete this entire process. Is is also possible to remotely upgrade the Runtime licenses from a Master Premium license? This would be extremely useful if that could occur and even more handy if it could be an automated process once the Premium license is updated. Perhaps all of this is already in place, but I am not sure how to do it if it is. Hello,
I would suggest you complete the following to upgrade 1. Uninstall from add/remove programs 2. Make sure the AutoMate 11 Programs Files folder has been removed 3. Install our latest version Note: You can create a backup within AutoMate by completing the following. 1. Open Task Administrator 2. Select Options 3. Select System Settings 4. Select Backup & Restore Unfortunately there is no way currently to upgrade Runtime machines remotely. ------------------------- ![]() Ricardo Castaneda | Principal Support Analyst AutoMate | Division of HelpSystems HelpSystems, LLC | T: +1.213.738.1700 |

Is uninstalling the old version and installing the new one, still the recommended way to upgrade Automate?
Also, I don't see the Backup & Restore option in Automate Enterprise 11.0.2.22. Is there some other way to backup everything up? |

Hello Mark,
That is correct, you will need to uninstall --> Reinstall in order to upgrade. Automate Enterprise does not have a backup or restore feature. You will need to install a third party tool like SQL Management Studio and backup the database instance outside of Automate Enterprise. Upgrade Process "Automate Enterprise" 1. Uninstall AutoMate Enterprise 11 from Add/Remove Programs (Do not add a check for any of the check boxes when prompted --> Select Next) 2. Make sure the AutoMate Enterprise 11 folder under program files C:\Program Files has been removed (If you are running the 32bit version you will need to check under the X86 Programs files folder) 3. Install our latest Version 4. During install choose Advanced Setup and select "Use existing configuration," Note: All components will need to be updated (i.e. remote Agents, Development Tools). ------------------------- ![]() Ricardo Castaneda | Principal Support Analyst AutoMate | Division of HelpSystems HelpSystems, LLC | T: +1.213.738.1700 |
