We have noticed that after moving to a Microsoft Exchange environment (and using the Outlook 2010 client) e-mails that are sent via BPA with an "alias" set in the From parameter are not displaying the alias when viewed in Outlook. This only seems to happen when the e-mail address we use is a "real" address. If we use a made up address, the alias will display.

For example, we have a Send E-mail action with the From parameter set to the following: (note: brackets > & < are replaced with square braces since HTML functionality is limited)

TEST 123 456 [] <-- "real" address that exists in our environment

This e-mail only displays the e-mail address ( in the from field when received.

If we instead change the From parameter to the following:

TEST 123 456 [] <-- "fake" address made up for testing

This e-mail, when received, shows both the alias (TEST 123 456) and the e-mail address (

Any thoughts as to what could be happening?

Are the settings for SMTP correct for the master srever and the agent, as well as for the task itself?
