We have several business process use cases that require the manual trigger of several of our workflows. What is the recommended way to set up a mechanism on user machines to trigger workflows/tasks?

The only method we have come up with so far is to create a batch file that writes a text file to a directory that BPA is monitoring, which subsequently triggers the rest of the workflow. This seems a bit archaic. Is there an easier way?

Hi Matthew,

All triggers are agent side except for the schedule trigger. How many users are on the same workstation at any given time? If this is limited to one user per machine, then I would recommend a key trigger. The user would then enter a key combination that would trigger the workflow.

Hi Leonard,

The user(s) would be sitting at their own PCs and executing the workflows manually. Their machines do not have agents installed on them - we have a limited number of agents installed across a handful of servers. How would the key combination set up work in this scenario? Is it possible to have something they can click on, like a shortcut?

Hi Matthew,

Since the Agents are not installed on the same machine, dropping a file into a folder that the file trigger is monitoring maybe the best way to go.

A Hot-key trigger would be recommended if the Agents were installed on the same machine as the users. The user would hit a specific key combination (i.e. ctrl+q) and the workflow would then kickoff and run.

Let us know if this helps you.
