i have recently gotten a new PC here at work, running windows XT. I have installed the BPA 7 SMC Client, and applied the licenses [since its an upgrade license, 2 were required]. when i go to the license tab, i see 'AM5/6 Pro To Server Standard' displayed in the license window as expected.

However, whenever i edit a task, i get a nag screen asking me to register. I have tried re-applying the license codes, but that didnt help.

i currently have only 13 days left. can anyone tell me the steps i need to take to resolve this?

Try opening a task from the SMC. Sometimes it will not sync until you do.

Hi Jiva,

Are you still connecting to the same BPA server, or are the agent and server all on the new machine?

Hi Rick~
i am still connecting to the same server and agent, which are on a different machine.
nothing in the BPA system has been changed, except for my new local pc, which has had only the SMC client installed.
I connect to the server OK, can run and administer workflows, and create new tasks - everything works just as it did before, with the exception of the fact that my license registration is apparently not being recognized.

please note that this is not the first time i have had to update my local pc, they upgrade our hardware about once a year - the point being,
i have done this before, but not had this problem. as far as i know, i have done everything the same, as i followed the notes i took last time i re-installed.

i could try removing the license, and re-applying it, but im doubting that will resolve the issue, and think it best to get some advice from the experts before i start messing around.

Hi Jiva,

Did you add your secondary SMC license within your secondary SMC?

It seems that you have a secondary SMC license, and you run an instance of SMC on your workstation. Please advise if that assessment is incorrect.

not sure i understand the question...

i have the following licenses
AutoMate 5 Professional: [applied to server]
AutoMate 5 Professional: [applied to client]
AutoMate 6 Professional Upgrade: [applied to client]
AutoMate 6 Professional Upgrade: [applied to server]

BPA Server 7 Standard Edition Upgrade:
BPA Server 8 Standard Edition (1): [not installed]

i am running v7.1.3.0 build 305111

after installing the client, i applied
BPA Server 7 Standard Edition Upgrade:
and then
AutoMate 6 Professional Upgrade:

i believe this is what i did last upgrade, pretty sure...

Hi Jiva,

Would any BPA components be installed on the server then?

You state that you installed the client and then the BPA Server 7 Standard Edition Upgrade. If you first installed the BPA Agent and then after installed BPA then it might have become confused. Is your machine the only agent? What machine does the agent connect to? There are few very isolated reports of this happening before, and once the trial countdown completed, then the SMC license switched to Registered.

my apoligies Rick, it is difficult to be clear in writing like this.

what i meant to say is
1. the BPA server; NO CHANGES it has been installed and chugging away for some time.
it and the agent are on the same server. SMC client is Not installed on this pc.
this is the only BPA server and the only agent we have.
this is a different machine than my local pc.

2. my new pc; when i installed the SMC client i
- installed the client
- applied the BPA 7 Standard Edition Upgrade license to it
- applied the AutoMate 6 Professional Upgrade to it

hopefully that is clearer...

i appreciate your patience and assistance...
~j

Hi Jiva,

Thank you for the details, it is asier now to understand the layout that you are using.
It does look like you did it all correctly, and it is the odd registration bug that goes away after the countdown. You should be able to verify that by advancing your computer's date beyond 11 days and seeing if it claims to be expired or is simply running happily.

Hi Jiva,

That is indeed a good sign. It should also behave properly once the actual date does pass as well.
