Hi, I recently installed BPA Server 7.1.3 on a Windows 7 machine. The setup part concluded issueless, however when I opened the server management console and tried to log in with my credentials (these being "Administrator" and "password", as in default) it would simply refuse to let the user log in, claiming "the user name and/or password is not valid" (I checked for BPA Agent and BPA Server on the local services section and both are running) I've tested BPA Server installation before (on XP & Vista machines) and never had such a problem. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the whole package 3 times but no effect. So does anyone have an idea how can I get past this or reset these values if necessary?

Hi Matt,
When you uninstall, make sure that the program files folder is empty, and the registry node HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Network Automation\BPA Server is no longer present. That should clear you for a reinstall without inheriting anything from a previous attempt.

Thank you Rick, I've reinstalled it the way you suggested, but no change. Here's the excerpt from the event viewer, in case that helps. ---------------------- Problem with a custom query.

Hi Matt,
Let's try manually switching your datastore over to XML files versus the VistaDb embedded database. To do this, you will want to stop the BPA Agent ans BPA Server services, then navigate to the c:\ProgramData\Network Automation\AutoMate BPA Server folder and edit the Server Properties.xml file. The line with After this are you able to log in to SMC?

I've changed the line from VistaDb to XML and SMC wouldn't connect to the server at all. Then I've changed it back to VistaDb and the connection was made, yet without any authorization success...

Hi Matt,
This data is then most likely being inherited from the previous VistaDb data. If you remove the C:\ProgramData\Network Automation\AutoMate BPA Server folder after uninstalling, you should be in the clear to install using the expected defaults.
