Hi,
I have a AM7 job that directs a non-Automate server to run a Crystal report and send its output to a PDF file by inserting records into a database on that server. This requires that that other server also has a PDF-printer software product to up and running. But, sometimes it stops. Before sending a request for a crystal report to run, I would like to check that the PDF-printer software is running on the other server. If not, send me a message and stop. I am thinking that maybe I could somehow access the TaskManager on that server. Has anyone done anything like that? Sometimes we are sending hundreds of small report requests and the ability to do this is important to us. Thanks for looking, Rich

Hi Rich,
The Get Process Information action can be executed locally or remotely and check for the PDF process. From there you can determine if the report should be executed.

Leonard,
I just tried that at your suggestion but get this message... Information for the process could not be obtained (Error: Access is denied. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070005 (E_ACCESSDENIED))) Does the user defined in the Action need to be an admin? If not, what rights are required? I am looking for PDFCreator.exe on that server to be in TaskManager. Thanks, Rich

Rich,
It needs to be an admin for the workstation, either local admin or domain admin. Is PDFCreator.exe a 32bit or 64bit process? If it's a 64bit process, then Automate will not be able to see the process.
