Hi, I'm new to Automate. Is there any way to capture windows class ID in an automated way. I used focus window to get the same but I would like to get it through automation and then use it in the script. Please pardon me if this is a silly question. Regards, Karthi K

Hello,
Since you are focusing the window you can create a dataset in the focus window action that will get you the handle. You can then reference the handle by using %ds.Handle%. Let us know if that works for you.

Hi Ricardo, I've tried(used Focus window drag option to get window class id and handle) it but i'm not able to convert it into automation. Is there any way to get Class ID programmatically, other than using Focus window (Drag option) ? Please share sample script if you have any. Regards, Karthi K

Hello,
You mention: but I'm not able to convert it into automation. Are you receiving any kind of error message? does the dataset properly populate with the correct information?

Hi Alex, Let me re-iterate my points. I was able to populate dataset with correct information using Focus Winodw. My question is , Is there any programmatic/alternative approach to get dataset of a window without using Focus window option ? I was expecting below option, Once winow pops up, get it's dataset using certain set of code. Then Store it into variable. Using Focus window need some manual intervention to get dataset(Please correct me if i'm wrong). Please let me know if you need further information. Regards, Karthi K

Hi,
In v7, you can use the Loop Windows action to populate a dataset or variable with the information that you require. There are include and exclude window masks to help narrow the information under the Advanced tab. In v10, there is a List Windows activity that will populate a dataset with ALL open Windows.
