Hello, I have attached my task and need some assistance. I need to archive files by modified date (all 2009 files). My task is not picking up all of the 2009 files in the folder and the files are not being deleted. Can you guide me in the right direction? Thanks as always. <AMVARIABLE NAME="varArchiveDate">01/01/2010</AMVARIABLE>

Hi Nelson,
What are some of the filenames that are not being included? ------------------------- - Rick Johnson Network Automation |

Hi Nelson,
I'm working with your task. What folder are these txt files in? ------------------------- - Rick Johnson Network Automation |

Sorry for the late response, I have been out of the office. I appreciate your assistance. The txt files reside in the folder C:\Test. In this folder there are files with 2009 and 2010 date stamps. I want to be able to archive and compress ONLY the 2009 files from this folder. |

Hi Nelson,
The filenames that you listed would always be excluded regardless of the time stamp due to the compress action looking for "C:\Test\19th Birthday mailings*.*" The files:
19thBirthdayforDec12009.txt 19thBirthdayReportNov12009.txt 19thBirthdayforNov12009.txt do not have a space between 19th and Birthday as well as between Birthday and mailings. Was it your intention to try to zip all files in the folder and just exclude 2010, or are some of the files older than 1/1/2010 also supposed to be excluded as well? ------------------------- - Rick Johnson Network Automation |

Hi, Yes my intentions are to compress all files in the folder and just exclude any 2010 files. |

Hi Nelson,
The steps that I provided worked. I did need to run Task Builder as administrator (or run Task Administrator as administrator and edit the task from there) in order to get the task to run. Let us know how it works for you. Task Steps: (Right click, Select All, Copy to copy to the clipboard. Steps can then be pasted into the AutoMate Task Builder) ------------------------- - Rick Johnson Network Automation |

Thank you, I appreciate your help. We must be in different time zones, are we? I am heading out for the day and will attempt to run this task first thing tomorrow morning. I will post my results, thanks again. |

Rick, That worked out well, I would like to delete the original files from C:\Test after the files are compressed. |

Hi Nelson
You can use the same variables on the Delete Files action that you used on the compress action. The attached step may do the trick for you: Task Steps: (Right click, Select All, Copy to copy to the clipboard. Steps can then be pasted into the AutoMate Task Builder) ------------------------- - Rick Johnson Network Automation |
