In our Automate 6 version 6.2.8.0, the AMTS.exe task uses more and more memory until the application freezes. Sometimes a restart of Automate fixes it but more often the restart fails, AMTS.exe must be ended manually, and Automate 6 must be started. THEN, 75% of the time the Task Admin fails to connect to the database, Automate must be stopped again and the server rebooted. We are restarting Automate 6 and/or restarting the server once a week at this point. I have read about a similar issue in BPA Server 7 but saw no resolution. Has anyone else experienced this issue? Any fixes out there?

Hi Dennis,

What do you have your task isolation set to? You can check this in the System Options.

You may want to try renaming the log files and then restarting the service. The log files are located in different places depending on your OS:

WIN2K, WINXP, WIN2K3:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Network Automation\AutoMate 6
WINV, WIN2K8, WIN7:
C:\ProgramData\Network Automation\AutoMate 6

Hello Liz,

Thank you for the reply.

Is Task Isolation something I can adjust in Automate 6? Some forums suggest that option first became available in Automate 7. If it is in 6, I have not been able to find it and directions would be appreciated.

We are running WIN2K3, so our logs are under Documents and Settings. I am curious how renaming them might help.

Dennis

Hi Dennis,

My apologies as Isolation was introduced in AM7. There is an issue with release prior to Automate 9 not trimming the logs as they should which caused issues.

Liz

is it possible to create a task in Automate to trim the logs and free up some memory?

Hi Dennis,

Yes it is. I would suggest just using the rename file action to rename those files.

hi Liz

2 questions:

1) if i rename the log files, where do current and future tasks write their log data? do the original file names get re-created automatically?

2) We use the email features a lot. Is there a way to globally update email addresses (either the From or the To address) in all tasks, or must they be updated one task at a time?

I guess that's 3 questions.

thank you

dennis

Hi Dennis,

1. Yes the .txt files get recreated automatically.

2. You could add email addresses as Constants from the Task Administrator -> System -> Options -> Constants. You can reference Constants from the Expression Builder within actions.
