Recently discovered an issue after migrating Automate 8.0.9 to Windows Server 2012 R2 and found that the AWE download speeds were significantly slower than when I was downloading the same files, from the same host, on Windows Server 2008 R2. I stood up a remote FTP Server that's running VsFTP to assist with our testing and we were able to confirm that this is consistent from multiple 2012 servers, from various environments, so it's not an environmental issue. In the test results below we used the same host and same file. Also, I noticed in the help files that Windows 2012 Server is not an officially supported operating system for this version of AutoMate, which may explain the degradation, considering that it doesn't appear that it was officially developed for Server 2012 R2.

To whom it concerns and automate team, is there anyway to fix this issue, or am I out of luck? Any assistance with this would be greatly appreciated. Feel free to test with the attached AML. It has credentials and everything already setup.

AWE FTP File Download Test Results:

(45mb file) (mm:ss:ms)

Windows Server 2012 -  07:39:76

Windows Server 2008 R2 - 01:16:59

Filezilla FTP File Download Test Results:

(45mb file) (mm:ss:ms)

Windows Server 2012 - 00:10:88

Windows Server 2008 R2 - 00:09:00

[Steps to reproduce]

1.       Import attached AML or code to rule builder

2.       Run AWE download action from Server 2008 R2 and Server 2012 (Credentials in workflow and ignore disabled steps)

3.       SourceFileName: /DataOne_US_LDV_Data.zip

Anyone from Automate seen this problem before? Any ideas?

Hi,

I actually had the opposite result in my testing with 2012 being slightly faster to download the file on average.

2008:

26s

76s

23s

73s

88s

102s

Average: 65s

2012:

20s

51s

70s

21s

69s

81s

Average: 52s

To even get the download to work, I needed to enable "Passive mode" on the FTP logon step.  Could you test with this setting enabled?

I am also having this issue. I tested this with Automate 8 and can confirm I am having the issue even with Passive mode enabled (passive required by most servers).

Are you sure you tested with Automate version 8?

Hi,

This issue appears to only affect machines on a domain.  The issue has been entered into our database as a Bug (20835). We hope to have this corrected in a future release. Thank you for reporting this issue and I apologize for the inconvenience.
