BPA Server 8 - v8.0.1.10
Windows Server 2008

I'm trying to compress a folder using Automate. However, I can't figure out how to choose a folder. I can select files fine but not a individual folder using the compression task. Is there a way to select a folder so it can be compressed?

Hi EJ,

Unfortunately, it's a compress files action so it would compress files in the current folder selected as well as all of the subfolders; but it will NOT include the parent folder itself within the compressed file. For example:

c:\test
c:\test\test.xls
c:\test\test2
c:\test\test2\test2.xls
c:\test\test3
c:\test\test3\test3.xls

If you select to compress c:\test\*.*, it will compress everything listed above except the c:\test folder itself. The contents will be as follows:

c:\test\test.xls
c:\test\test2
c:\test\test2\test2.xls
c:\test\test3
c:\test\test3\test3.xls

If you want to include the c:\test folder and contents within the compressed file then you would need to move or copy c:\test into an empty folder such as c:\tempfolder and compress c:\tempfolder\*.*. The contents will be as follows:

c:\test
c:\test\test.xls
c:\test\test2
c:\test\test2\test2.xls
c:\test\test3
c:\test\test3\test3.xls
