I'm just wondering if there's some way to remove a character from all agentnames?
I suppose you can do it with a SQL query but I'm not that good with SQL.

Hi Daniel,

Would it be possible to provide an example of the original agent name to the new agent name? It is possible and we can provide a SQL statement to accomplish this but we need to make sure of your exact requirement so that the SQL statement does not make any unintended changes.

Hi Leonard,

Sure, this is an example of two agent names:

/2CE0032WDD
/290W33J

We'd like to remove the first sign which is "/" from the name of all our agents.
They all look like this, beginning with a "/" sign and then a random ammount of numbers and letters.

Hi Daniel,

I have forwarded the information to our development team and I will have a SQL statement for you later today.

Hi Daniel,

Here is the query:

UPDATE AutoMateConstructs
SET ResourceName = SUBSTRING(ResourceName, 2, LEN(ResourceName)-1)
WHERE (ResourceType = 8)
AND (ResourceName LIKE '\%')

However, there are some things to note. This will change the names of the agents in the SMC (and the rest of the system, like logs and WFD). It will not change the registry settings on the agent machines however. That means that when a user mouses over the task tray icon, it will show the old name.

Thanks Leonard!
Much appreciated, I'll try it later today.

Will it have any negative effect when reinstalling an agent if it's reinstalled with the "new" name (Without the / character)?

Hi Daniel,

There shouldn't be any negative effect as long as you name the agents, during installation, to the new names in the database.
