Today we had our scheduled migration/upgrade from everything still BPA7 into our current BPA8 environment.

Unfortunately it all went to hell.

For some reason the migration utility would not process any of the tasks.
I can't think of a reason, since I tried the exact same procedure a few weeks ago to make sure this migration would go smoothly.

This is what we did:

Bpa8 and BPA7 server applications were stopped, BPA8 Datastore migration utliltie was started, source was directed to the old BPA7 datastore which was a ms sql server 2012 database, the destination was a brand new database also on ms sql 2012. Testing the connections was succesful every time.

After starting the process, the step that processes the folders completed sucessfullly, but the next one "Tasks" fails immidiately with several errors (Se attached pics and event log).

I tried this procedure on three different workstations as well as on the BPA8 server just to check if the issue was related to a corrupt installation of the BPA8 suite, but this was not the case.

All the BPA7 tasks and workflows that were supposed to be migrated look correct and work on tha BPA7 server/systems.

I really don't know what to do anymore!?

Any news/updates?

Would it help if I sent you a copy of the database?

Hi Daniel,

If you are able to provide the database this would help our testing and reproduction efforts. It does seem strange that in your testing prior to the migration it worked, but then failed when the actual migration was executed for production. Please send a copy of the database to support@networkautomation.com. Also, please specify the exact version of BPA used to create that database.

Hi guys, any news?

We would really like to be able to migrate to BPA8, so that we can follow the update chain all the way to BPA10 (at a later date).
