I've installed BPA Server 8.

How do I use the Web-Based SMC?

What address do I put in my browser?

I can't find any documentation for this.

Thanks,

Lance

Lance,
If you are hosting the IIS on the same server as BPA Server 8 all you need is 'localhost' without the quotes of course, otherwise you have to type in an IP or a fully qualified url path.
The only available documentation currently is packaged in the zip file which is for installation. More detailed documentation is in the making.

I hope this is what you are looking for.

EDIT
I am sorry, I read your question wrong. You have what address in the browser. That all depends on how your IIS is setup to handle requests for the site. If you followed the instructions packaged in and are on the same machine as the IIS server, you can access it by using localhost for server and NetworkAutomation for the virtual application directory, so it would be something like http://localhost/networkautomation/ also you should be able to access it on local LAN with use of the machine name e.g. http://mymachinename/networkautomation/

When I type "localhost" I just get the default IIS 7 page.

I would think I need something like http:\\localhost\bpa8 or a port that the applications is listening on.

So any other suggestions?

Oh, I see that you replied to your reply. Anyway, I only ran the install .exe, I did not see anything special for the web browser piece. Is there something additional that I need to do?

I did read your edit section and in turn edited mine. Not sure if you saw that.

Basically I ran the install .exe, and clicked next several times. I did not see anything separate for the IIS piece. Do you have a link to the document that explains how to install the IIS portion?

Hi Lance,

The websmc is not bundled in the current release of BPA. I have provided a direct link to the websmc below. The .zip contains the components and instructions for configuring the websmc.

http://netauto.s3.amazonaws.co...te_bpa_websmc8000.zip

We are looking to bundle the websmc in a future release.

Question about the SMC, is there a way to have it not remember the values from the previous logon when the page it opened? Ideally I would like to have only the port field populated or none at all. Is this possible?

Anthony,
This is stored in a cookie so when accessing from your account on a Windows machine this will be remembered, but not for anyone else. In Internet Explorer you can currently ask to delete cookies on exit. However, this would by default put 'administrator' in the UserName field and the default 'Port'.

This is also a good suggestion for a setting to be created for such preferences that might come up.

Thanks, yes a setting so that "administrator" wasn't populated by default would be great.

Anthony,
The username will no longer be populated by administrator by default, unless you logged in successfully as such last time.

This was easiest quickest fix. The addition of a preference setting is in our tracking system and will be implemented on a priority basis.

Thanks for your input and please continue your valuable feedback.

Is there another copy of this file?  The link is now dead.

Thanks!

Hi Nick,

The WebSMC download link can be found in the account page for the user that has the BPA8 license keys.

Fabio,

That is correct. The WebSMC is available for BPA8 and BPA9 Enterprise editions.

Thank your for the fast reply!

Considering that I have the licence key for BPA 9 where could I download the Web-Based?

The download link is available next to the download link for the BPA Server Enterprise download link within your account page. You will need to log into the account page that contains the licenses in order to download it.

Hi Leonard, I logged into my account page but I didn't find the webSMC download link, I just found the link for the BPA9 (ZIP and EXE).

I accessed the side bar menu, the link "License Keys" there I can see the table with the tab "With Maintenance (1)" and below there is the following:

BPA Server 9 (...)
AutoMate BPA Server 9(...). Provides task triggering and execution on remote machines when used with AutoMate BPA Server 9
Origin | Maintenance Status | Download Link(s)
Upgrade Per Maintenance | Product Maintenance expires 10/27/12 | EXE / ZIP

The location where I going is correct?

Hi Fabio,

I don't believe your account has the license keys for BPA Enterprise, does it? The WebSMC link is only provided with the download link for Enterprise.

Yes, it does.

I have in my account the license key for BPA Enterprise and not for Standard, but...

I didn't find the download link.

Can you give me the coordinates for access the link by my/an account?

Fabio,

It is located right beneath the download for BPA Enterprise:

BPA Server 8 Enterprise Edition: EXE / ZIP
Web-Based SMC: ZIP

I found my mistake! The license in my account is for the Agent, now I put the Server license and works!

Thanks!
