Hi,

We are two developers on a BPA 8 server and all of the sudden the workflow designer hangs when opening.

We've rebooted the server aswell as our development computers.

The log from the server doesnt say anything, but this is what appears on our development computers' event viewer:

Hi Andreas,

Thank you for your post. Have you created any Constants lately from the SMC?

Nevermind, we got it working again.

And for others who might experience this problem - I'm sorry, we have no idea what we did to make it work again. Though i believe it was after we ran a task on the server.

We're having a similar issue where WFD opens but does not display the WF and all the controls are frozen. Nothing gets recorded in the Event Viewer but WFD just sits there frozen and the only way to get out of it is to kill it via Task Manager.

Hi Arnold,

You mentioned you made a change to the web.config file. If you change the web.config back to 60 seconds, does the WFD still hang? I know you may need to make this change but we would like to know if the change to the web.config caused the hang, if so, we can reproduce it.

Liz, I restored the original web.config files, rebooted the BPA server and WFD still hangs. Also, now that the HTTP timeout is back to 60 seconds (default), we get the ASP exception due to the HTTP timeout limit whenever we try to run a workflow or task from the SMC. I don't know if scheduled or triggered workflows still run. We're still able to edit Tasks but other than that Automate BPA SMC has become almost unusable and the natives are getting restless. This needs to be resolved soon or we'll need to escalate.

Hi Arnold,

Are you running a proxy? Do you have multiple NIC cards on the workstation? Are you available for a remote session so we can further troubleshoot on your workstation?

has anyone identified a fix for this ... it's been a semi-consistent problem for us for awhile.

well ... this was the oddest fix i've had for a problem with automate ... per the OP ... i ran a simple task on the server, and voila ... i am now able to open and interact with workflows.

i also have to really question the titles given to people based on the number of their posts ... even though i've posted 110 times ... i am FAR from "expert"

Hi Brian,

Are you running v9.0.3? Is the WFD hanging or throwing an error message?
