Hi,

We have a number of jobs which run SQL on a database and then send the results out via email. There are SQL to HTML based scripts out there but I was wondering if anyone has any other approaches with this? The data could be put into dataset objects if that helps.

Thanks,

James

Hi James,

Since you have the information in a dataset, I would suggest that you loop the dataset and write that information to a file. You can then read the file into a variable and call the variable in your send email action.

Let us know if that works for you.

Thanks, that's what we were planning to do but was hoping there would be some kind of 'convert dataset to HTML' action.

Could we please raise this as a feature request.

Hi James,

I have added a feature request to our database (#F554).

Thank you for your input.

So you're looking to see the Row's of data in a form or just rows as they are in the Dataset?

We would like the data (rows + columns) to show in a nice format such that it can be emailed. The best way we have found is to generate a HTML table

Capitalizing on the ds.ColumnNames value, it must be pretty easy to design a utility basic script function that generates the full html for dataset ds.
James, did you already do it, or do you need help doing it ?

Hi Jean,

We have figured out a solution but it would be nice if there was a built in one. We believe it is a common task that users do.

Thanks,

James
