I am starting with BPA. I have several FTP activities I will be automating. Does anyone have a design document that they used for a similar effort? I am hoping to get a design document or list of questions to ask, etc to assist with my development effort.
Thanks |

Hello Dave,
Do you already have an idea of what type of actions you will be using within the FTP task? Other than logon and logoff? Will you be uploading or downloading files, changing directories, etc. There are sample tasks available on our URC for a multitude of scenarios: http://www.networkautomation.c...For=st&searchTerm=ftp Please clarify. ------------------------- ![]() Valentineo McGowan | Technical Consultant AutoMate | Division of HelpSystems HelpSystems, LLC | T: +1 213.738.6966 | F: +1.213.738.7665 |

Thanks for the reply. I was looking for something similar to a design document that I would use to ask Operations specific questions prior to actually writing the scripts. Some things that I have thought of are, naming the file, archiving the file, who to notify on an error, who gets notified on successful completion, time of day to run the script, what other processes need to run to create the file for FTP. Items like that..

Hi Dave,
It sounds like you are on the right track with the questions you have so far. An additional question you can ask is if a specific task needs to get executed on success/error. It really depends on what your requirements are. ------------------------- ![]() Ricardo Castaneda | Principal Support Analyst AutoMate | Division of HelpSystems HelpSystems, LLC | T: +1.213.738.1700 |
