Please consider adding automated conversion and validation reporting when upgrading from previous version of AutoMate to new (current version). E.g. version 9 to 10.
When we are faced with moving hundreds of tasks with hundreds of steps in each task this should be something that is as simple as doing an export from AM9 and import into AM10 or better yet installation should see AutoMate version 9 and prompt if we would like to import tasks and/or system settings. If the newer version has changed the way the Action works it should automatically convert or at minimum flag as possible issue. For example if action can't be converted there should be an upgrade report or pane that shows which tasks need to be reviewed and which step/action there an issue with. The task should also be disabled. I have never seen conversion issues listed in one location or provided as release notes (changelog) why is this? Over the years I have moved from AM6 to AM7, AM7 to AM8 and AM8 to AM9 and now looking at moving to AM10. This has been a pain point every time and I can see this still hasn't been resolved. Anyone else enduring this? Please chime in and cast your vote. Check out this recent post. If File exist | if folder exist Edited: 01/29/2016 at 12:14 PM by N i c k |
