Folks,

We've been running on Automate 9.0.5.4 for some time, on a Hyper-V VM of Windows Server 2012 R2 x64 (Gen 2, configuration version 5). This was recently upgraded to Server 2016 Datacenter x64 and configuration version of the VM upgraded to version 8. I did have to re-import tasks and put back in the task options (triggers, logon, etc) for each task, but the overall Automate options were intact. VM is domain-joined and uses a domain admin-level account.

We have tasks that log into an otherwise logged-out VM (using admin creds), run some things (that do require interaction such as mouse clicks and text field population), run some reports then log out when done. However, tasks fail at AMLogon.aml 'Step took too long to execute' when trying to log in.

Have tried the following:

- Made sure SAS logon option was on, default user credentials are correct, AMTS.exe service is running as local system w/o desktop interaction box checked, UAC is running and local security policy was edited to enable services to use SAS. I found a script by Leonard some time ago to verify some of these:

EnableLUA: 1 (1)
DisableCAD: 0 (0)
Software SAS Generation: 3 (3)

- Attempts to run as background user or logged in user fail at first subtask that tries to focus a window or otherwise need desktop interaction (window not found)

- VM has all relevant microsoft updates applied as of this writing

- There's a bug in upgrading to server 2016 that puts the Net Logon service to manual; corrected so that it's set to Automatic Start

I wouldn't be that surprised if Server 2016 changed something other than what's described above such that SAS login with Automate 9 might not work, as opposed to 2012 R2? I have not yet attempted a full uninstall / reinstall of Automate yet...

Hello,

I do apologize however version 9 is not supported in Windows Sever 2016. You will need to upgrade to version 10 or version 11 to run AutoMate Server 2016.

Operating System Support

Would it be possible to upgrade to version 10 or version 11?

Ricardo,

Yeah, I figured that was going to end up being the case. I can run the sequences we need manually in a VM connection window so that's ok for now, but yes we'd probably look into updating to version 10 or 11. Is there any pricing incentive to upgrade to 11, or perhaps a discount to just move to version 10?

Hi Erik,

I have sent a message to your Account Manager, he will be reaching out and providing pricing information.

You can always logon to your Account Page and download the trial version of 11 and start if you would like.
