I have a task that opens a hidden Excel workbook, and when the task is completed, it closes the workbook.

However, sometimes the task doesn't complete (for various reasons) and it therefore leaves the hidden workbook open.
This, in turn, causes a problem when another task tries to access the workbook.

If the task results in failure, can I use that as a trigger to open another task that closes the workbook?

If not, is there some way to close the workbook if the task doesn't complete?

If there is an error in Task1, I can trigger another Task2.
Task2 can then close the workbook.

However, I am also looking for a way to trigger Task2 if Task1 is manually stopped. Is that possible?

Hello Erik,

I would suggest that you add logic to your task to check "If the excel process exist" go ahead and terminate that process, the task can then continue doing whatever it needs to.

Unfortunately there is no way to start a task when the task is manually stopped. You can setup a task to kick off if the task fails with the task options under "On Error".
