Env: Windows Server 2008 R2 64-bit, Oracle Client v11.2.0.3

I have a Task that runs a sql query (via pre-defined connection) against an Oracle db and it continues to error with "Connection to the database failed".

The thing that is puzzling me the most is that the BPA Agent Server throwing the error was setup/configured using the same scripted process as other servers that ARE able to successfully run the SAME BPA task without any errors.

I've tried manually creating a custom connection in Task Builder and using that rather than a pre-defined connection and I get the same error.

Any help in identifying issue would be greatly appreciated!

Adam,

Does this error occur on both the Agent and in Task Builder? Are the Agent and Task Builder on the same machine? If the Agent is on a remote machine, have you verified that the Oracle client is installed on the remote machine as well?

Hi Leonard,

I was actually able to resolve the issue yesterday afternoon. It appears the issue may have been related to a bug with the Oracle 11.2.0.3 client install that prevents the OLE Driver from registering correctly.

I had already re-registered the driver after initially installing the Oracle client (which resolved previous build issues encountered) but for some reason I had to register it a second time AFTER installing the BPA Agent to resolve the SQL Query action issue.

Here's the command to re-register the driver. I hope it saves someone else an afternoon of troubleshooting

  "C:\Windows\SysWOW64\regsvr32 D:\Oracle\ora112\bin\OraOLEDB11.dll"
