Answer:
We were able to resolve this issue over a GoToAssist session 2 different ways (below);

1. Added a Pause and Focus Window action.
2. Changed the Wait for Window to a "Window to Gain Focus" and added a check for Window is a Child Window and Focus Window.

We successfully ran the task through Task Builder and a Remote Agent.

I'm sure this is really simple, but, my brain is fried.  I have a folder containing several .xlsx files that need to be converted to .csv files.

Any ideas?

I have added to this, I did replies to myself so code is attached there and so are the files.

After the first excel spreadsheet it will fail on the following line of code:

     <AMINTERACT ACTIVITY="mouse_to_object" CHECKOBJECTTYPE="YES" CHECKOBJECTNAME="YES" CHECKOBJECTVALUE="YES" CHECKOBJECTCLASS="YES" WINDOWTITLE="Save As" OBJECTTYPE="SelectableText" OBJECTNAME="File name:" OBJECTCLASS="Edit" OBJECTVALUE="%varOldFileNameShort%" />

I tried refocusing the window to no avail.

Well rats.  While it was what they asked for, it wasn't really what was wanted.  I need to convert xlsx to .csv.  I have a routine, but it is not totally working.  I have attached the code, right now the Send keystrokes {F12} is not working.

Really having issues with this because there are multiple excel files with different names.  When I try to focus the window, it is fine for one but not for the whole group as the focus cannot change names for each spreadsheet once you set it up.

I have no way of knowing the file names or how many before I start.

HELP!!!!

I have attached the files and the code that I am working with.

I will get two to work, and then the third won't work.  When I go back to try again, the second stops working.  I'm lost.

Please Help!!!!  Need to figure this out this morning!!!!  Can't figure out why it does not work for the entire group.

Fails on

after the first excel spreadsheet.

I actually got this working in debug on my local machine.  It does not work on the agents.  It loses focus all the time.  I think I need to find software that automate can run to do this.

Hi Mary,

What is the exact error message that you receive when the task fails? Because the task works in Task Builder and not on an agent would mean that there is a properties or speed issue. Do you have "disable windows foreground timeout" enabled? This option is located in the SMC at Options > Default Properties > Miscellaneous (Default Task Properties). Also, have you monitored the remote machine to see how the task is interacting with Excel? I would recommend a Wait for Window step after step 11 to make sure that the spreadsheet has in fact opened before attempting to focus the window. Also, at this point, if you are not using any of the other Excel activities other than Open/Close, then I recommend using the Run activity instead to open the spreadsheet. This allows you to open it outside of compatibility mode and you can capture the PID to close it more quickly after you are done with the spreadsheet.

As I mentioned in the other post, you may want to contact the support team directly so that a remote session can be arranged to assist with troubleshooting the issue.

I'm using save as so that it will save as an excel file.  When it fails it says no windows matched the requested set of criteria.

I have the disable windows foreground timeout enabled (checked).

I have monitored the machine.

I also had a wait for window after step 11, but it did not help and failed when I ran locally too.

It just does not function correctly.

I made changes as you suggested, Now it does not work on the agent or on my local machine.  It runs through two locally just fine and then abends due to focus issues.  Same problem running on the agent.  I cannot seem to get around this.

Downloaded software to try that said it could be used by running the executable, but it does not actually do what it says.

I thought BPA could do this.  In fact I told the team that needs it that it could and it can for one excel file.  But it made a liar out of me for multiple excel sheets.  Now I know why the consultant next to me said his former company got rid of it.

I added it to the workflow and scheduled but now it cannot focus the window.  Tried the wait for window with focus, but it still fails.
