Without a clear cause (and nothing in the Event Viewer) our BPA server will simply stop executing tasks.

When this happens, and you go into manually run tasks ... if you hit the Run button, nothing happens. This is in both workflows and tasks.

The only way to recover is to stop all BPA services, then start the Engine up, followed by the Agent, then Management.

This has been happening pretty regularly ... 3-4 times in a 7 day period. We attempted to fix it by doing a reinstall. That resolved it for a day or two ... now it happened again last night.

Any ideas?

Hi Brian,

When this issue occurs are you able to tell which is the last workflow to kick off before the issue occurred?

Would it be possible to provide details on that workflow?

Hello Brian,

We recommend looking at your "reports" to view the last executed workflows. You can also try looking under:

C:\ProgramData\AutoMate\AutoMate BPA Agent 10

at the "task events" text log. This will show the executed workflows/tasks in succession. You will need to find the gap in execution to determine what was running last when the issue began.

Thanks Alex, I'll look into that. In the meantime, I went in today and took a look at the Execution Status ... one of our Workflows shows that it's running 226 times, another one shows 125, and yet another has 5.

But when I mouse over the agent ... it shows 1 active tasks, and 0 in the que.

Hello Brian,

You may want to log into the agent server, and open the windows task manager. Each task within each workflow produces a process called BPATask.exe. IF there are multiple instances of these process' running, then that means that they are in a "stuck" state. You will need to right click and stop them individually.

Please Note: if there were other workflows that were scheduled to run after the stuck tasks ran, then stopping the BPATask.exe process, will cause the workflows to then resume. Please be prepared to stop these instances as well.
