Hi,

Is there any advised way on sending an email on which tasks have run today or those which have failed/ are yet to run?

We have considered having an email per job but would prefer to have one consolidated email at certain times of day

Thanks

Alex

Hi Alex,

What product are you running (BPA Server or AutoMate)?

Hi,

I was just wondering if there is any update on this item please. An alternative solution we have thought of is to have each job write to a status table but I would rather not have to do that if there is some built in way of achieving this within BPA Server.

Thanks,

Alex

Can't speak to BPA, but Automate has the following files that can be used:
C:\ProgramData\Network Automation\AutoMate 8\AutoMate8TaskFile.atl - This can be used to parse tasks for the next run time to see if any have not ran yet, but should have...additionally it can be used to parse the last run date and the status. This file appears to be in some form of XML Format so it should be easy to parse.

C:\ProgramData\Network Automation\AutoMate 8\AutoMate8TaskEvents.txt - This file gives you the detail on all events and where it failed at. This file has a new record for each event and will likely require significant processing.

On this subject, I've been looking into building a system to do something similar, likely using a shared Exchange Calendar or an SQL Database...

BPA records all achievements in the "executionevents" table of the database, but it does so only after completion of the item (task or workflow) and includes Start and End Times, as well as Result code and Result text.
It seems nothing is recorded at task or workflow initiation, then no work-in-process can be tracked from the database. But only upon task and workflow termination.
Nothing is ever recorded for those items that may get lost in process.

Hello,

I've attached a task which displays how one would get the data about which tasks have run today. It needs more work to do exactly what you want, but this should get you started.

Task Steps: (Right click, Select All, Copy to copy to the clipboard. Steps can then be pasted into the AutoMate Task Builder)
