Hi,

We would like to get some test tasks that we have created in Automate 10 BPA Server beta into Automate 9 BPA Server (we have just bought a license for it). Is there any way to do this?

Thanks,

Alex

Alex,

You cannot migrate v10 tasks/workflows into an older version. Unfortunately until beta 3 is released, you will not be able to open tasks/workflows through BPA Server.

Alex,
The database schema for Version 9 and 10 are different so one can not simply connect from a version 9 to version 10 and get the data that way, however if you just want the Task AML, you can look into TaskConstructs table and they should be there.

Hope this helps.

Alex,
hereunder a BPA9 task that extracts the tasks' names and AML's from the BPA10 database.
You will normally just have to specify in the strDataSource variable the name of your SQL server system instead of my "LEN-W700"
Tell me if you have any difficulty with it. It works nicely for me.

If you intend to feed some of those BPA10 tasks into BPA9 you may have to re-encode them in v9 AML, since v10 AML is not backward compatible with v9.
Each task's AML specifies the AML version : e.g.
TASKINFO TASKVERSION="10.0.0.33"
But at least you can see your BPA10 tasks.

Task Steps: (Right click, Select All, Copy to copy to the clipboard. Steps can then be pasted into the AutoMate Task Builder)

Thanks Jean and Hamid.

I did find that some tasks were able to be directly copied from 10 to 9
