I have a File system trigger set up to monitor a directory and all its subdirectories.  When a file is added to any subdirectory it copies the file to an archive directory based on what directory it came from.  I have the basic logic of the Task working.

I only want files with the extension .prt copied with the task even though there are multiple files created.  To manage this I added a simple Include Mask to the trigger like this "*.prt".  When I do this, the trigger will not fire.  I have had to add logic to the task to limit the files I copy, but the trigger files 3 or 4 times more often than I want, since many files should be ignored.  I've tried playing with the trigger but can't get anything to work.  I can't put an absolute path in the trigger since the file structure is big, complicated and always changing.

Can you explain how to make the Include Mask field work on this File System trigger.

Thanks,

Kert

Hi Kert,

How many subfoldes deep is the file being dropped?  I believe there is an issue if the file is being dropped more than one subfolder deep.  I also believe this is fixed in v11.

Most of the files are created 3 subfolders deep, which would explain why it isn't working.

Can you give me information on the bug and where it is fixed?  I'll need to justify the upgrade if I ask for it.  Is there a patch to fix it or do I need to upgrade to 11.* to get the fix.

Thanks,

Kert

Hi Kert,

The bug number is 21750.  There was an issue when using the "subfolders" option with a filter.  For some reason if both of these were set in the trigger, the task would not trigger if the file was dropped more than one subfolder down.

The changelog for version 11.0.1 shows that the bug is fixed.  I just tested it as well just to be sure and was able to trigger the task as expected.
