I am trying to refresh linked data in an Excel spreadsheet. The option is set to refresh on open which doesn't happen. Then I tried to send Alt F5 to the spreadsheet and that didn't work. Actually, it works when running steps from task builder, but not from the automation. Any suggestions?

Finally got the Alt F5 command to work after a long pause in the program. Why won't it refresh on open?

Hi Pam,

Using the Excel action will result in opening Excel in safe mode which prevents the automatic refresh of most spreadsheets. You will need to use interactivity steps to manually refresh the spreadsheet unfortunately, as you have discovered.
