Hello,

One of my tasks has recently been bombing out prematurely towards the end of the task with an 'Amtask' error popping up saying 'Out of memory'.

Task Administrator is showing the task as still running, which it isn't, and a result of 'Stopped'. As soon as I close the out of memory error dialog the task no longer shows 'running'.

There are no errors written to the Automate log and no entry in the log to say the task has finished. There is also nothing in the windows event monitor to help either.

The task steps are attached and it seems to be failing around step 54 which is a Loop files action

I am running AM 10.7.0.3 on a Windows 7 Pro VM box which is currently showing 4Gb of allocated ram.

Hi Aaron,

Approximately how many files might AutoMate be working with in each loop?

Hi Justin,

First loop - a total of 71,844 files in that folder and automate selects 71,828 (*.cp)
Second loop - total files 72,101 and automate selects 72,039 (*.cp)
Third loop - total files 6093, selected 2381 (*.NC)
Fourth loop - total files 7500, selected 845 (*.NC)

It seems to be failing during the fourth loop so could the memory from the previous loops not be clearing down properly?

If I run each loop separately they run fine, it seems to be when they run consecutively I get the issue.

Hi Aaron,

That may be the case. I would suggest adding a short wait, between 10 to 30 seconds after the copy file actions that follow each loop. Please advise if this helps with the memory usage.

Hi Justin,

I added a wait of 20 seconds after each copy file following each loop as you suggested and I got the same 'Out of memory' message again, this time at step number 43 which is during the third loop.

Hello,

Would it be possible to set-up a GoToAssist session where we can take a closer look at this issue? If this is possible please send an email over to AutoMate.Support@helpsystems.com with a list of your availability.

Note: Please reference this forum thread in your email.
