I am working on a workflow to download email messages and save out attached files to the file system. It's working fine for explicitly attached picture files, but some of my testers have embedded their pictures in HTML messages instead of attaching them. When the multimedia content is embedded, it gets a reference to a CID in the HTML img tag, and the Base64-encoded content of the file is embedded elsewhere in the email message.

I've been using the GetMessage(s) action to retrieve the messages, and the actual content of the CID is not included in either the Headers, Body, or BodyHtml attributes of the message record in the dataset.

Is the extended content available in some other way through AutoMate, such as through the GetSingleMessage action?

The column names or content of the datasets generated from GetMessage(s) and GetSingleMessage are not documented in the help file, and I haven't found a thread about this here on the forum. (There is a similar thread called "Send Email - using HTML file contents as body - images not coming through", but it relates to the mirror image problem: sending, where I'm trying to receive.)

If there is no current way to get this content, by any chance is that on the request list for features to add in future versions?

Thanks, John

I have tried GetSingleMessage, and it has the same set of column names in its output dataset as GetMessage(s) does. I'm assuming this means that it also does not provide access to the multimedia content blocks.

Hello John,

We have tested here and it appears to be a defect. It seems we can only get embedded images if there is also an attachment to the email. In which case, it will save the attachment and the embedded images.

We will be reporting this to development for bug submission.

We will update this thread when/if the bug is accepted.

Alex, where were you folks expecting the addition MIME Content-xxxx sections to come through: in BodyHtml or in Headers?

John
